1. Overview
HireTalent ("HireTalent", "we", "us", or "our") operates a job portal connecting job seekers and employers in Australia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our website and services (the "Platform").
We aim to handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This document is a working draft and should be finalised with qualified legal counsel before the Platform is used to process real user data at scale.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email address, password (hashed), account type (job seeker or employer), and authentication data managed via our identity provider.
- Job seeker profile data — work history, education, skills, location, salary expectations, and other details you add to your profile.
- Resume / CV content — when you upload a resume, the file is stored and automatically parsed by our resume-parsing tool to pre-fill profile fields (e.g. name, work history, skills). You can review and edit any extracted data before saving it.
- Application data — jobs you apply to, application status, cover letters, and communications between you and employers through the Platform.
- Employer and billing information — company name, ABN, billing address, contact email, and job ad purchase/invoice history (including GST amounts) when an employer posts and pays for a job ad.
- Usage data — device/browser information, IP address, and general interaction data collected via cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account, and to authenticate you when you log in.
- To match job seekers with relevant job listings and to display candidate profiles to employers you apply to.
- To parse uploaded resumes and pre-fill profile fields, saving you manual data entry.
- To process job ad purchases, calculate GST, and issue tax invoices and billing receipts.
- To send transactional emails such as account verification codes (OTP), password resets, and invoice/receipt confirmations.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Platform, including detecting fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations, including tax and record-keeping requirements in Australia.
4. Third Parties We Share Data With
We do not sell personal information. We share limited personal information with the following service providers strictly to operate the Platform:
- Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider. Supabase hosts our database, handles user authentication, and stores uploaded files (such as resumes) in secure storage buckets.
- Resend — our transactional email provider. Resend is used to deliver account verification (OTP) emails, password reset emails, and invoice/receipt emails on our behalf.
- Employers — when you apply to a job, relevant profile and application information is shared with the employer who posted that listing.
We do not currently integrate with any other analytics, advertising, or payment processing third parties beyond those listed above. If additional integrations are added in future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Platform's services. Billing and invoice records (including GST amounts) are retained for the period required by Australian tax law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, subject to records we are legally required to keep (e.g. financial records).
6. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you generally have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information.
- Request deletion of your account and personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses (e.g. marketing communications).
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy rights have been breached.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 9. You can also manage or delete your resume, profile, and application data directly from your dashboard settings.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed authentication credentials — to protect your personal information. No online platform can guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
9. Contact Us
